VAREB DSR

The composition contains rabeprazole and domperidone which is used together to provide relief from the excess of acid secretion problem. As acid secretion is good for digestion but over secretion degrades the lining of gastrointestinal tract and causes ulcers.

Rabeprazole is antiulcer drugs and is belongs to proton pump inhibitors. It is activated at pH 5.0 in the stomach in the acidic environment.

Domperidone is the blocker of dopamine receptors and increases the gastrointestinal peristaltic movement and release of prolactin. It also has antiemetic action.

  • Lower respiratory tract infections
  • Otitis media
  • Pneumonia
  • Sinusitis
  • Urinary tract infections

Mechanism of action-

Rabeprazole blocks the proton pump i.e. hydrogen potassium ATPase pump. This pump causes the exchange of hydrogen and potassium which lead to generation of hcl.
Domperidone blocks the D2 receptors selectively and thus facilitates the gastric emptying and bowel transit time.

Pharmacokinetics-

Rabeprazole-
It is absorbed orally
It is 96% bound to plasma proteins
It is metabolized in liver
It is excreted urine.

Domperidone-
It is 93% bound to proteins
It is excreted via urine
